Greendale Won’t Intimidate Pius XI

Greendale Football LogoGreendale comes into this game on roll. They are the Woodland-Black Conference champs with an 8-1 record. Their only loss was to the Woodland-Black Conference champs, Brown Deer, in overtime. Other than the Brown Deer game, they have dominated all of their opponents this year. They have the top offense and defense in their conference based on points scored and points allowed. This is the 6th straight year that Greendale has made the playoffs. In 2006 they played in the State Championship and in 2007 they defeated a good Catholic Memorial team in the first round of the playoffs. If they succeeded, the Popes READ MORE

But Pius XI played the spoiler and trounced Kettle Moraine, 24-0, and thus ending their season in the process. Once again it is the last game of the season but this time it’s Pius XI who needs to win and it’s Kettle Moraine who can play the role of the spoiler.

Defensively, Kettle Moraine is hard-hitting and runs a multiple defense. They play fast and aggressive and like to run downhill. They are an exceptionally good tackling team. None of the teams in Classic 8 conference found it easy to score on Kettle Moraine this year. Their kicking game is solid like all the teams in the Classic 8. READ MORE

Pius Wins… In A Moral Way

Milwaukee Pius XI vs Catholic Memorial RecapI usually don’t like to label a loss as a moral victory but in the case of the Popes’ 39-21 loss to Catholic Memorial, it accurately describes the overall improvement of the team’s performance. Both the defense and offense played more fundamentally sound then they had all season. In fact, it was READ MORE
